Sitting in the Mess — Faith, Discomfort, and Healing

Healing is not clean or linear. It is messy, uncomfortable, and deeply humbling. Sitting in the mess means acknowledging the choices we made, the emotions we buried, and the pain we numbed.

This season forced me to confront myself without distractions. No numbing. No avoidance. Just honesty, prayer, and reflection. I learned that God does not rush healing—He walks with us through it.

Sitting in the mess taught me that discomfort is often the doorway to growth. What we feel tempted to escape may be the very place God wants to meet us.

Reflection

  • What mess in my life am I being asked to face?

  • How do I normally cope with discomfort?

  • What would it look like to trust God here?

Call to Action

Replace one numbing habit this week with a grounding practice such as prayer, journaling, or quiet reflection.
